The Mr Tuba bag is a fully synthetic, padded gigbag that’s ready to take great care of any standard BB-flat tuba (also called double BB-flat bass in brass bands). Designed for everyday use and regular travel, it wraps your instrument in a soft, non-abrasive lining with thick internal padding to keep it safe from bumps and scratches. A sturdy bell protector adds extra peace of mind for the tuba’s most vulnerable feature.
Designed for more comfortable and practical lugging, the bag comes with padded rucksack straps and a quick-release sternum strap to help balance the load. Two convenient side handles make lifting and manoeuvring in tight spaces straightforward. Storage is thoughtfully laid out too, with spacious external zip-up pockets for music and accessories, plus an internal security pocket for your smaller valuables and essentials.

It’s designed to accommodate all standard top-action three- or four-valve E-flat bass tubas, including the Besson Sovereign (9812 and 9822), B&H Imperial, and Yamaha Neo. It is not suitable for the Willson 3400TA, which has a more elongated form: choose the larger bag for BB-flat instruments instead.
It accommodates instruments with a bell diameter up to 19 inches (483 mm) and a body length up to 42 inches (1,070 mm).
We supply this gigbag online and in-store to dozens of customers each year and, other than the Willson 3400TA (see first question), are not aware of any common fitting issues. If we hear of other exceptions, we will update our product information accordingly.
It’s lighter and less bulky than a hard case, while still offering reliable padding and protection. The backpack straps improve portability, and it packs flat for easy storage during rehearsals or performances. For everyday local use, it’s the more convenient option. A hard case, by contrast, is better for touring, long-distance travel, or long-term storage, when maximum protection is essential.
