Hawkins trumpet plunger system

The Hawkins B-flat trumpet plunger system is a modular plunger mute offering controlled tonal variation and stable intonation across the range. Its interchangeable disc design provides three calibrated settings—closed, semi-closed, and open—allowing precise adjustment of resistance and tone.

The included ‘mute muffler’, a removable wool insert, further refines colour and response. Its position within the plunger can be altered to vary damping, producing sounds from dark and diffuse to bright and direct.

Constructed from durable polymer with balanced mass and carefully angled geometry, the plunger maintains even articulation and reliable pitch in all registers, suitable for both section and solo work.
