The Besson Sovereign 955 is a fully compensating three-valve baritone horn that has become one of the reference points within the modern British-style brass band. Balancing clarity and warmth, it supports both lyrical solo work and section playing.

The compensating valve system improves tuning in the low register while maintaining a secure and even response throughout the range. Its yellow brass construction contributes to the centred, rounded tonal character associated with the Sovereign series, while stainless steel valves provide a smooth and dependable action.

Widely used across championship brass bands and military ensembles, the 955 remains flexible enough for solo and exposed melodic work, while retaining sufficient core and projection for full band textures.
