The Selmer 1702SX is a lacquered metal lyre for alto and tenor saxophones, designed for marching and other similar on-the-move situations.

It features a bent stem intended to bring the music into a useful playing position. The gold-lacquer finish complements the appearance of traditional lacquered saxophones.

  • Suggested uses: alto/tenor saxophone
  • Gold lacquer finish
  • Single sprung lever
  • Distributed by Conn-Selmer USA (Selmer branded)

The 'lyre' is a small sheet music holder used by military and marching band musicians to hold printed parts when a floor stand is impractical. Some woodwind instruments (student saxophones, for example) are equipped with a 'lyre box' with a tension screw to grip the lyre stem. Other solutions depend on finding an attachment which suits a particular instrument or the player's preference.
