The Yamaha YSL-891ZD Custom Z tenor trombone was developed in collaboration with professional artists Andy Martin and Wycliffe Gordon, and is aimed at players seeking a single instrument capable of excelling in lead, section and solo roles.

Its two interchangeable leadpipes allow the instrument’s response to be tailored to different performance situations. The LA leadpipe offers a focused, agile feel, while the NY leadpipe provides a broader, more open response with greater tonal depth. Combined with the 0.508-inch medium bore and detachable 8-inch bell, they enable a wide range of tonal colours while maintaining clarity, projection and warmth.
