The Vincent Bach 180 Stradivarius series is regarded as the touchstone by which professional B-flat trumpets are all judged. Combining a standard-weight body with Bach’s traditional leadpipe design and one-piece, hand-hammered bells, they offer the balanced response, dependable intonation, and tonal consistency required by professional-level performers.

Monel pistons, a medium-large bore, and mobile first and third valve slides contribute to the reliable performance and familiar feel that have made the Bach Strad one of the most widely used trumpet designs.

The 18072 incorporates Bach’s #72 bell, known for its broader taper and darker tonal character. Compared with the #37 and #43 designs, the #72 generally produces a fuller, warmer sound with a wider tonal palette. It is often favoured by players seeking greater depth and richness within the characteristic response and flexibility of the Strad range.

The 18072G variant further develops this character through the use of a gold brass bell, contributing additional warmth and tonal complexity while preserving the broad response of the #72 design.

† Bach bell models:
When Vincent Bach began manufacturing instruments in the early 1920s, his experiments resulted in over 70 different trumpet bell models, each numbered according to the ‘mandrel’ or mould it was shaped upon. By the early 1950s certain standard models had emerged, those we now know as #37, #43 and #72. The model #37 is regarded as the standard all-round bell, suitable for all styles; the #43 is broader, brighter and more open than the #37 (suitable for jazz lead); the #72 has a strong, powerful sound, darker than the #37 (but takes more effort to play than the #37 or #43).
