Description
Paxman horns are among the instruments most favoured by European professional players. The flagship Model 20 showcases the innovations of Richard Merewether (1925–85) whose revolutionary ideas had a lasting impact on Paxman’s professional range.
The Merewether system allows air to travel through the valve section in the same direction on both the F and B-flat sides, minimising disruption of the air column and enabling smooth slurring and legato playing on both sides and when swapping between them.
The Model 20 has a variety of optional features offering many combinations to suit individual players:
- Bell throat: medium / medium-large / large
- Material: yellow brass / gold brass / nickel-silver
- Bell type: fixed / detachable
- Linkage: string / mechanical (mini balljoint)
- Valve section: standard / compact
- Finish: lacquered / silver-plated
Standard features:
- Independent tuning slides (F and B-flat)
- Mouthpipe water key
- Reversible thumb lever
- Nickel-silver valve casings
- Brass rotors
