Yamaha YSL-897Z Custom Z B-flat tenor trombone

The YSL-897Z Custom Z small-bore lead trombone is suited to a wide variety of performance situations and features two interchangeable leadpipes named Z1 and Z2.

The Z1 was designed for Los Angeles-based lead trombonist Andy Martin, a renowned soloist with numerous film credits. The Z2 is for Alistair Kay, one of Canada's finest trombonists and educators with many credits across a wide variety of genres. Both musicians were involved in the development of the 897Z model.

• Bell material: yellow brass
• Bell diameter: 7½ in. (190.4 mm)
• Bore: dual, 0.484–0.490 in. (12.29–12.45 mm)
• Two interchangeable leadpipes
• Outer slide material: yellow brass
