Recycled instruments Recycling old instruments (23 Jul 2009):
Here at Rosehill we see many instruments that have reached the end of their useful life as music-making equipment. But we try to put some to good use after their playing days are over. This summer we are using a pair of old hand-tuned timpani and a bass tuba for a floral display outside our premises. If you have an unwanted musical instrument, we may well be able to make you an offer for it. Otherwise you could recycle by donating to a school or charity, or using an online facility like the one below.

Starkes tries new York euph (27 Aug 2008): York brass instruments have made a great impression since they were first introduced to the market, and are one of our best selling instrument lines. John Starkes, principal euphonium with the Boscombe Salvation Army band recently visited us to test the new York Eminence euphonium. John plays on a Wick 3AL mouthpiece, and his first impressions were very favourable. Rosehill offers a wide selection of low brass, and you'll always receive a welcome if you wish to come and test our range.

Guitars on show at Rosehill Bargain prices in sale showroom (10 Jan 2008): A vacant showroom right next door to our shop in Beaconsfield is providing us with a temporary display space for a range of electric and acoustic guitars, amplifiers, effects pedals, PA and digital pianos, many at bargain prices of up to 25% off normal retail. We are offering a good choice of Freshman acoustics and electros, amps by Line6, Peavey, Laney and Randall, and pedals by Boss, Digitech and Line6. We are also using the space to display our range of student drum kits. Visit us to find a bargain!
Orphanage nears completion (13 Dec 2007): Work on the Rosehill Evangelical Mission's new orphanage in Gadala, south-east India is expected to be complete by next February. When finished it will provide shelter for 200 orphans, some currently housed in two smaller orphanages run by the mission in the nearby city of Rajahmundry. The mission was founded by Rev. Joseph Babu whose charitable work amongst people with leprosy and street children receives support from Rosehill's founding director Trevor Austin through collections and musical activities such as carolling and concerts. Latest: The orphanage was completed, furnished and occupied in May 2009. £62,000 was raised in eighteen months to support the project.Work in progress at the new orphanage
Edwards trombones Rosehill adds the Edwards brand (28 Nov 2007): We are well known for offering players the opportunity to try all the best names in brass instrument brands. We are proud to announce that we are now an Edwards centre, where you can test and purchase a range of Edwards trombones. We will carry a selection of jazz, tenor and bass instruments plus a range of component parts to tailor instruments to your personal requirements. Call Paul Austin on 01494 671717 to arrange a test to compare Edwards with our stock of Bach, Conn, King, Yamaha, Holton and Willson instruments.

Happy birthday to Rosehill! (25 Apr 2007): This week we held a special gathering of friends and former colleagues of Rosehill to mark the fortieth year of business in Beaconsfield. More than seventy people were able to attend and many others sent their good wishes. The event was held in the United Reformed church hall in Beaconsfield. ‘It all went really well,’ said company founder Trevor Austin. ‘Some of the people there I had not seen for twenty-odd years which was really nice.’40th birthday party
Shop front face-lift Shop front gets a face-lift (13 Dec 2006): Today we added the final touch to a project which over the past couple of months has seen the front of our shop transformed. Apart from a badly needed coat of paint, we've had new shop signs made incorporating our newly designed company logo, and had staging built for a more effective window display. Now the large swinging sign above the door which has been missing for years has been replaced, effectively advertising our presence up and down London End.
We're going musical crackers! (20 Oct 2006): This week we took a large delivery of these amazing musical crackers (pictured right), which were easily one of our most popular items last festive season. Each cracker contains a whistle along with the more traditional goodies. Choose a conductor from amongst your guests and make music together around the Christmas dinner table! Boxes of eight crackers are available from our showroom for £9.99 each.Musical Crackers
Harrogate 2006 Harrogate brass band event (23 Sep 2006): The Harrogate International Centre was the venue for the finals of the National Brass Band Championships for bands in sections 1 to 4 this weekend. Although our tradestand reported a quiet day, there was plenty of interest in the Willson cornet and tenor horn we were show-casing, with many positive comments on their tuning, performance and overall sound from visitors who tried them out.
Feel the Rhythm Force (14 Sep 2006): We were under canvas today as an exhibitor at Rhythm Force, the day-long festival of music held annually at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall. Five thousand visitors, many of them students and schoolchildren, crowded into the grounds of the hall to enjoy a surprisingly wide range of music presented by musicians from across the armed forces. Traditional military bands gave way to rock, pop and jazz to appeal to the younger audience, and our exhibition stand did a good trade in pocket money-priced novelties and accessories!Rhythm Force 2006
Rosehill's British Open tradestand Rosehill at Symphony Hall (9 Sep 2006): Rosehill Instruments was at the spectacular Symphony Hall in Birmingham this weekend for the 2006 British Open brass band championship. We showed off our current range of brass instruments, with the new Willson cornet a particular focus of attention. The vacuum left by the recent demise of Besson meant that interest was keen, and there was also a brisk trade in accessories.

A day with Hertfordshire's instrumental teachers (6 Sep 2006): Rosehill began the school year a day early as guests of the Hertfordshire Music Service at an in-service training day for their instrumental teaching staff. We were able to demonstrate our range of brass instruments including Willson and Miraphone, and offer practical demonstrations and advice on instrument maintenance to the gathered peripatetics. Hertfordshire's educational music programme is exciting and wide-ranging, and includes a youth brass group, jazz band and wind band.

Midsomer comes to Beaconsfield (3 Sep 2006): Beaconsfield made a fleeting appearance during this week's new episode of Midsomer Murders, the TV detective serial starring John Nettles. Filming took place earlier this year in London End where a vacant shop unit was temporarily converted into a music shop. Rosehill Instruments was delighted to supply items from our own window display to dress the set. The shopfront was so effective local passers-by thought the competition had arrived!

Right: The finished Midsomer set stocked with instruments from Rosehill.
